About Kait
Kait is a self-taught artist with an infatuation for all things retro and a deep love for the color burgundy.
Having grown up all over the world, she has made her home in Baltimore where she’s lived for over 10 years with her wildly handsome partner and two heartbreakingly perfect cats. Kait followed an unconventional path to becoming a full time artist, beginning as a mathematics major at a tech company, working for several years in retail management, eventually sliding into display and chalkboards as a side gig. A final hard pivot into the arts came in her mid thirties when covid made the world stop spinning and she found herself obsessively painting flowers for 12 hours a day while everything else stood still. Eighteen months, and three very serious conversations later, Kait K Designs was born.
This evolution into her literal dream career is one that she attributes wholeheartedly to the uniquely robust, energized, and selfless support of the Baltimore arts community. Baltimore allowed (and even encouraged) her to be a fish in a weird and down-to-earth little pond, with other fish who aren’t competitive and plenty of work (fish food?) to go around.
Specializing in murals, large scale, and custom work, Kait is especially passionate about creating art that has context, and the ability to transform and influence the spaces around us.
